Young Rock SNEAK PEEK: Luke Hemsworth sports grey hair as Coach Erickson on Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming autobiographical TV sitcom

Wentworth star Luke Hemsworth moved his family back to Australia in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And now a project he filmed in Queensland is about to premiere – Dwayne Johnson’s autobiographical TV sitcom ‘Young Rock’.

In first look images for the comedy series, Luke can be seen sporting grey hair and a couch uniform as her takes on Dwayne’s former couch Dennis Erickson.

Luke, 40, is the eldest sibling of famous Hemsworth actors – Chris, 37, and Liam, 31.

Young Rock covers Dwayne’s early life and rise to fame with a series of actors covering each part of his exciting journey to the man the world knows today. 

Luke’s character portrayal of Coach Erickson, who later became an NFL head coach, will feature in the comedy’s ’90s timeline.

Couch Erickson helped young Dwayne Johnson (played in the series by Australian actor Uli Latukefu) through his college career and offered guidance as Dwayne dreamt of an NFL future. 

Speaking to EW last week, Luke said: ‘I really enjoyed stepping into the legendary shoes of Coach Dennis Erickson, and also working again with director Jeffery Walker… It’s a wonderfully written show about family and the strange journeys that make us who we are — and also the Dwayne Johnson!!!!’  

The Melbourne-born actor also stars in the acclaimed HBO Western sci-fi series Westeworld alongside Evan Rachel Wood, Tessa Thompson and Aaron Paul.

Luke plays Ashley Stubbs, the head of Westworld security, and has been on the show since season one in 2016.

Luke’s career began on the Australian soap Neighbours, and he has also starred in the Channel 10 series Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms and had a cameo role in Thor: Ragnarok in 2017.

Luke, who spent almost a decade living in Los Angeles, recently moved to Byron Bay to be closer to his parents, Leonie and Craig, and brothers Liam and Chris. 

Luke and Samantha have been married for 13 years and together share four children: daughters Holly, 11, Ella, 10, and eight-year-old Harper Rose, as well as seven-year-old son Alexandre.

Young Rock premieres Sunday, May 2 on Fox8 from 6.30pm, and also drops its first episode on streaming platform Binge on May 2
