Shane Jacobson’s blunt response to Jim Jefferies over AGT ‘shafting’

‘Welcome to showbiz’: Shane Jacobson’s blunt response to comedian Jim Jefferies after he complained about getting ‘shafted’ out of Australia’s Got Talent judging role

Shane Jacobson has some choice words for Jim Jefferies after the comedian complained about being replaced as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent at the eleventh hour.

‘Welcome to showbiz,’ said Shane, 51, on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Friday.

Jim, 44, had slammed Channel Seven on a Triple M last month after the network decided to replace him on the judging panel with celebrity chef Manu Feildel.

‘I hear he [Manu] is a big deal in Australia. I would trust him if the bloke was judging food, but he’s judging entertainment,’ he said, adding: ‘He’s not qualified.’

At the time, Jim claimed he’d travelled from the U.S. to Australia after being ‘hired’ by Seven as a judge for the show.

He accused network bosses of ‘d**king him around’ and telling him the ‘offer is coming’ when he had a busy stand-up schedule lined up.

Jim also took issue with the lengthy list of demands Seven required of him, including a week-long rehearsal before filming.

Shane, who was a judge in the 2019 series with Lucy Durack, Nicole Scherzinger and Manu, disputed Jim’s version of events on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

‘I wasn’t aware of it before it got mentioned in the paper,’ he said of claims Manu had been drafted in to replace Jim at the last minute.

‘He [Jim] said there’s heaps of rehearsals. We actually don’t have a lot of rehearsals,’ Shane said. ‘Not sure what that was about.’

Later in the interview, Radio host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson asked Shane if he would be returning for the new season of Australia’s Got Talent.

The Kenny star kept his cards close to his chest, saying there had been ‘no announcement’.

‘I don’t think I’m not doing it,’ he added, seemingly unsure.

Australia’s Got Talent is set to air later this year with audition dates being advertised on the show’s website, starting from June 30.

Last year’s series was abruptly cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
