It has been 20 years since she wore red hair for her music video Ojos Asi, and returned to the colour in February.

And Shakira showed off her dyed bright red locks as she got ready to head to a recording session on Wednesday.

The Colombian singer, 44, looked stylish in a snap she shared via Instagram, which saw her pose in a green-and-white coordinated ensemble.

Shakira wore her fiery-red locks in loose waves that she kept off her face by wearing a green headband that had bow tie detailing.

She also put on a stylish display in a striped long-sleeve top that she tucked into a layered miniskirt, and she cinched her outfit at the waist with a large green belt.

Teasing her upcoming recording session, she wrote in the caption: ‘Ready to leave my house to go to my first in-person studio session to meet with some awesome collaborators thanks to safety measures and vaccines. I can’t wait!’

Earlier this month, Shakira also took part in Earth Day by signing a letter from the  Earthshot Prize Council calling for the world to act on repairing the planet in the same spirit as the fight against Covid-19.

Last month, Shakira teased her legions of fans on Instagram about the possibility of new music coming down the pipeline.

The Colombian bombshell posted a snapshot of herself singing into a recording mic in front of a music stand.

‘Cooking something!’ she gushed in her caption for her more than 70 million followers and then wrote the same message in Spanish: ‘Cocinando algo!’

Her post came about three months after she released a new song called Girl Like Me in collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas.

The music video has racked up more than 310 million views on YouTube and the single has hit the top of Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart.

Shakira has not put out a studio album since the 2017 release El Dorado which itself came at the end of a period of writer’s block.

The sizzling sensation had also given birth to her second son Sasha in 2015 and was trying to juggle motherhood with music.

‘I was in front of this white canvas and sort of panicking, and I was, at the same time, conflicted because I didn’t want to stop spending time with my kids, but I also wanted to attend to my own needs as a creator, as an artist, as a producer,’ she told Billboard in an interview promoting El Dorado.

Since that album she has remained active in the public eye including a sizzling appearance at the Super Bowl last year.

She and Jennifer Lopez shared the halftime show where Shakira brought back a lot of her old hits including Hips Don’t Lie and Waka Waka (This Time For Africa).
