Mollie King and fiancé crowned ‘new Posh and Becks’ by Tatler magazine

She is set to marry her cricketer fiancé Stuart Broad after he popped the question earlier this year following a nine year romance.

And following their engagement, Mollie King and her sports star partner spoke to Tatler magazine about their ‘relaxed’ wedding plans, and how they intend to throw a ‘really fun party’ for their nearest and dearest.

The Radio 1 host, 33, and the England cricket player, 34, have even been crowned the ‘new Posh and Becks’ during their interview with the society bible ahead of their impending nuptials.

Wedding bells! Mollie King and her sports star partner spoke to Tatler magazine about their ‘relaxed’ wedding plans, and how they intend to throw a ‘really fun party’ for their nearest and dearest

Similar to David and Victoria, Mollie and Stuart are involved in the sports and music industries respectively, so it’s easy to see how comparisons could be drawn.

The new interview branded the couple the ‘new celebrity power couple’, following their recent engagement.

Discussing how their wedding plans are going so far, Mollie said: ‘We want it to be relaxed and chilled, and a really fun party.’

Mollie also touched on the early days of her romance with Stuart, as she admitted she previously had no knowledge of cricket at all.

The former Saturdays star and Stuart met after a friend asked her to send him a get-well message while he was recovering from injury.

She said: ‘I had to go from zero to a hundred. Now I have a good understanding of the game.’

Meanwhile, Stuart spoke about how the couple fared in lockdown, as they enjoyed a rare prolonged stint of time together and focusing on their fitness.

He said: ‘We set up circuits in the garden. Mollie was motivating me to do Pilates with her, and we had a Peloton bike.’

Stuart said he would do Peloton Sessions (virtual classes) with his England teammates Jimmy Anderson, Joss Butler and Mark Woods – ‘and sometimes [the former England captain] Michael Vaughan would join in’.

Stuart, who spent the beginning of the year away on tour, said his team has been confined to Covid-secure bubbles.

He said: ‘It was as strict as you could possibly be. Our mealtimes were like school exams, with small tables two metres apart. But we were well looked after.’

Last week, Mollie and Stuart were making up for lost time as they happily toasted their engagement on Thursday.

Mollie looked completely loved-up as she beamed a smile while holding onto her glass of fizz in a radiant selfie with her beau.

Mollie wrapped up warm for the al fresco celebration donning a chic beige jacket and accessorising with some stylish gold hoop earrings.

The blonde beauty wore her locks down and styled into loose waves before adding a full face of makeup to complete her look.

Stuart, who opted for a beer instead of bubbles for the engagement toast, also cut a dapper figure in a smart jacket over a navy zip-up jumper.

Sharing the snap to Instagram, Mollie wrote: ‘Out celebrating our engagement! It may be a little late but it felt like such a treat to eat out and we loved every minute!’

Mollie announced her engagement to her cricketer beau Stuart on New Year’s Day when she shared a snap of them kissing on a wintry countryside walk.

The pair have been an on-off item since 2012 but have been dating steadily since the start of 2019 leading up to their engagement.

The couple finally reunited last month after Stuart spent 10 weeks abroad on tour with the England cricket team in Sri Lanka, India.

Mollie and Stuart, who spent two months apart, cosied up for an adorable selfie as the singer and presenter declared: ‘Can you tell I’m happy to have him home!?’

Stuart sweetly planted a kiss on his smiling fiancée’s cheek as they enjoyed their reunion.

And although now reunited, Mollie told MailOnline that she and Stuart are ‘taking it slow’ planning their wedding amid the ongoing Covid pandemic.

Speaking in March, Mollie said: ‘We haven’t booked a date yet. It’s only been the last couple of weeks we have heard announcements about weddings [by the government].

‘I am just grateful and lucky that I am with him and engaged. We don’t have to do this right now. I dream of getting married to him, and want to put a date in, and I’m having so much fun [thinking about it] but we are taking it slowly.

‘We need to be careful with all the guidelines and stuff.’

This hasn’t stopped Mollie from spit-balling ideas for the big day.

‘I am having fun creating mood boards. I can’t help it! I do it on Instagram, I am so excited. I post things about destinations and dresses.’

This suggests The Saturdays star is looking to travel abroad to tie the knot as she hunts for the perfect ‘destination’ for the nuptials.

Of Stuart flying across the world to play cricket the day after he popped the question, Mollie admitted ‘it was tough’.

She added: ‘I was on cloud nine and then he had to leave the next day. It was a whirlwind – in the best possible way! That was tough. Now he’s back home though we are getting started with plans. But it was a unique situation.’
