Lena Headey is adding to her packed list of upcoming projects with a new high-profile limited series about the Watergate scandal.

The 47-year-old Game Of Thrones star will join Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux in HBO’s five-episode series The White House Plumbers, about the 1972 break-in at the Democratic National Committees headquarters, Variety reported on Thursday.

She’ll be appearing in the show as Dorothy Hunt, the wife of Nixon administration ‘plumber’ E. Howard Hunt.

The White House Plumbers will focus on Hunt and fellow Watergate break-in mastermind G. Gordon Liddy.

Harrelson will play, Hunt, a former CIA officer and the husband to Headey’s character.

Theroux will star as Liddy, who died on March 30 of this year.

The co-conspirators and their fellow operatives unintentionally ended the presidency of their boss Richard Nixon, while forever hollowing out American’s trust in their government.

In early 1972, Hunt and Liddy devised a plan of illegal intelligence activities against the Democratic Party in order to secure the reelection of Nixon, a Republican.

Their plan was shared with senior members of the administration, including Attorney General John Mitchell and Presidential Counsel John Dean.

But after five men were arrested during an attempt to bug the DNC Headquarters at the Watergate Office Building, the administration’s attempts to cover-up their activities eventually led to Nixon’s resignation, while Hunt, Liddy and others went to prison.

Heady will be playing Hunt’s wife Dorothy, who juggled being a mother of four while also serving as an active CIA asset.

She’s forced to keep her family together while contending with the aftermath of his husband’s assault on democracy.

The real-life Dorothy Hunt died not too long after the break-in during a December 1972 plane crash.

The crash was later attributed to crew error, though Hunt was notably found to have $10,000 in cash in her suitcase.

Headey will be working with HBO again after their success with the blockbuster fantasy series Game Of Thrones, which she starred in from 2011 to 2019.

She was one of the show’s breakout stars as the scheming queen Cersei Lannister.
