Kris Jenner celebrated 40M followers on Instagram by throwing it back to her very first post from nine years ago.    

The 65-year-old momager extraordinaire shared the black and white photo of herself from 2012 as she greeted her much smaller community: ‘Hello instagram world!,’ while embarking on a new frontier. 

Fast forward to 2021, the platform has become she and her family’s bread and butter as a lucrative source of revenue and a means for self-promotion — the matriarch even citing social media as one reason they closed the chapter on Keeping Up With The Kardashians

Flashing back to a time where Instagram was a foreign entity to the mother of six, she took a trip down memory lane in her post, as she marveled at how far she’s come while thanking her hefty following.  

‘I have 40 MILLION reasons to be excited and thankful!!! 40 MILLION followers WOW!!! I can’t believe it’s been 9 years since I posted my first Instagram, and here we are, 40 million followers and 5900 posts later!! 

‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your loyalty, support, positivity, brutal honestly, humor and love, for all of these years. Over 14 years of making our show, the biggest blessing has been creating relationships with our followers and our fans, and I am so grateful that we have this amazing place to communicate, connect, and share our lives.

‘I feel so completely blessed and honored that you have been there for me through thick and thin… and my, you have seen it ALL! hah! You have also supported all the hopes and dreams that not only I have had, but that my kids have had as well. Thank you for following me… I’m honestly humbled and grateful. I love you guys!!!!,’ she said, adding: ‘(This is my first ever Instagram post nine years ago!!’

Their hit E! show is rounding out its 20th and final season and her brood has now become synonymous with social media culture. 

From photoshop scandals to pricey endorsement deals, Instagram has been a catalyst for the good and the bad over the years, while solidifying their undying stardom.   

Collectively Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie, and Kendall have over 861M followers on the platform alone, and the family rarely goes a day without posting a glimpse into their lavish lives.  

On the business front, Kim has streamlined all advertisement for her SKIMS and KKW Beauty brands on the platform, as well as Khloe with Good American, Kourtney with Poosh, Kylie with Kylie Cosmetics and Kendall Jenner now with the elusive 818 tequila and modeling campaigns.

Speaking about KUWTK coming to an end after becoming a pop culture fixture, the Jenner Communications founder told WWD Beauty that the ability to deliver real-time content to their massive audience was just one of many forces at play. 

‘When we first started, there was no Instagram or Snapchat or other social media platforms. The world has changed. Now there are so many, the viewer doesn’t have to wait three or four months to see an episode. We can give them all of the information anyone would ever want to know in real time,’ she shared. 

The Safely founder added: ‘Social media is the fastest and most controlled way to get the message out. The consumer gets to see the products the girls are working on in real time, and they know we’re going to get it out the door pretty quickly. The girls want them to be part of the journey to keep them engaged.’
