Honest: Kate Ferdinand has revealed that she felt ‘abnormal’ and ‘overwhelmed’ adjusting to parenthood after giving birth to her son Cree last December

She told The Sun: ‘There are so many things about motherhood that no one tells you. I’d had the baby and I was in this whirlwind of emotion.

‘My body was not the body I recognised. I felt really overwhelmed.

‘I was feeling really abnormal and I started panicking. ‘Am I meant to be feeling like this?’

She added that she considered posting glamorous pictures in the weeks after giving birth by emergency caesarean but chose not to because it wasn’t how she was really feeling.

Instead she chose to post a candid selfie 11 days after giving birth showing her postpartum figure, which revealed a significant bruise on her thigh.

Now says she ‘felt like I had to share it’, adding that she received lots of messages from other women feeling the same afterwards.

She said she believes that is why it is right to ‘not share the perfect pictures all the time’.

The beauty went on to explain how it is hard to see out of the ‘post-pregnancy bubble’ after giving birth and said she felt like she would never go back to ‘normal’ or ‘feel the same again’.

However she added that ‘you do come out of the other side’ and ‘you will feel OK’.

Kate also admitted that when you are a new mum there is a lot of pressure to bounce back but said for her it wasn’t ‘realistic’ with having a newborn and looking after Rio’s three other children Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and Tia, nine.

She added: ‘I would love to look how I looked before Cree but I am not putting a load of pressure on myself because things don’t always go to plan when you have a baby.

‘You might plan to eat healthily and go to the gym. But then something happens and you still haven’t cooked dinner, so you end up snacking.’

Kate said she has now stopped putting pressure on herself to go to the gym every day and instead just wants to spend time with her family.

The blonde beauty also said she is now adjusting to taking son Cree out and about after lockdown restrictions have been eased.

Kate shared her candid selfie of her postpartum figure just 11 days after giving birth as she posed in black underwear holding Cree.

In the emotional post, Kate said she had been left in tears and feeling guilty as she recovered from the birth, which meant she was unable to ‘feed or change’ Cree consistently.

She wrote: ‘Day 11… What a bubble this is… We are so obsessed with our little angel Cree. I just seem to stare at him for hours on end, seeing the kids and him is literally what dreams are made of, feeling completely overwhelmed

‘I wanted to share this with you. This is me … and let me add this is a much better version of me than the last 10 days. After having an emergency c section, and a bit of a traumatic birth I’ve been completely wiped out.

‘The happiness has been overwhelming but so have the tears and emotions, I’ve felt like I can’t do what I’m meant to be doing with Cree as I haven’t been able to change or feed him consistently which has had me feeling all types of guilt, for Cree, Rio & that I can’t be doing what I normally do for the kids.

‘It’s a whirlwind I just wasn’t expecting … but at the same time the most perfect whirlwind.’

Kate added that she was progressing in her recovery, writing: ‘To be standing up holding my bubba like this is a dream right now. When we are stripped of all the things we can normally do, the small things become extra special.

‘Feeling so lucky to have my amazing husband and the kids helping me with everything.
