Jake Quickenden shares his worries about leaving baby son Leo to sing on a cruise ship

Jake Quickenden has shared his worries about leaving his baby son Leo for six months to sing on a cruise ship.

Speaking to hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng on Access All Areas on FUBAR Radio on Thursday, the former The X Factor star, 32, admitted that the idea gives him ‘really bad anxiety’.

Jake explained that he was previously supposed to do the work commitment but it was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The TV personality said: ‘I was supposed to be on cruises for six months singing. So it looks like they’re going again. So I will probably be leaving.

‘But it gives me really bad anxiety now I’ve got Leo to think that I could be away for such a long time.’

Jake added that although he is worried about leaving his baby son, he ‘loves working’ and even joked that Leo’s nappies ‘aren’t cheap’.

The star continued: ‘But at the end of the day, I love working. I love kind of what I do. And I want to kind of get cracked on back to work, because, like I said, that baby milk and those nappies, they’re not cheap!’

Talking about how expensive a baby can be, Jake joked: ‘I’m going to have to do about two years on the cruises I think!’

The I’m A Celebrity star, who shares Leo with girlfriend Sophie Church, 28, announced the birth of his first child in February.

Only recently, Jake has been speaking out about the vicious trolls his family have encountered.

Earlier this week, the singer revealed that his girlfriend Sophie was told to drown their baby son Leo by a heartless troll.

Jake told how horrified he was when he saw the vile message Sophie received, adding that he wants ‘online laws’ to change.

He told new! magazine: ‘It really shocked me. I’m used to people trolling me, but because I don’t respond to them, they saw an opportunity to target Leo instead.

‘It hurt, but you have to ask yourself, “Why are people doing this?” Sophie received one saying, “Why don’t you drown your baby?”

‘Something must change with the online laws.’

Jake has documented his journey through fatherhood on social media, sharing numerous adorable snaps of his son Leo.

The tot’s birth was documented on Celebrity Bumps: Famous and Pregnant, with couple are seen in tears as they cradle baby boy, who weighed 5lb10 after a 24-minute labour.

It comes after Jake previously told how he was left disgusted after seeing that some of the trolls who left horrible remarks about Leo were parents themselves.

The reality star admitted the messaged had worn him down in a series of since deleted Instagram posts.

Jake even spotted one horrific comment from a troll who claimed the tot was ‘the winner of the realistic miscarriage’.

The singer fired back with his own message, writing: ‘You can be the strongest person in the world but eventually people pulling you down and being sick can wear you down.

‘I don’t understand why anyone would be nasty to someone they didn’t know especially a child, I’m done with some things I’ve seen!!!

‘It’s sick and it’s by other parents as well!! Get a f*****g grip you sad f**ks. I’m not naming, unfortunately that’s what they want and strive for.

‘It makes them feel big and important for once… Also as bad as it is I don’t particularly want anyone to get trolled. It’s not nice even if you’re a p***k!’

Jake first revealed the abuse he received after Leo was born after claiming his son was told he ‘needed Botox and was weird looking’.

Jake defiantly promised to keep posting updates as he enjoys sharing all the ‘ups and downs’, adding that those who ‘troll an innocent child need to seek help’.

The proud dad penned: ‘REAL POST… So in the past week this little man has been told he needs Botox, that he’s ugly as f**k and that he’s weird looking.

‘Me myself have also been told stay off social media if you don’t want to be trolled, it’s so baffling to me that I should have to stay off social media if I don’t want my 4 week old trolled.

‘I don’t mind people giving me s**t, as sad as it is I’ve had to get used to being called ‘irrelevant’, ugly’, ‘attention seeking’ and the list goes on but to troll a innocent child is so wrong and the people doing it seriously need to seek help.’

Jake continued: ‘Also why should I stay off social media if I don’t want him trolled the thought process of some people is shocking, maybe people just shouldn’t troll.

‘I enjoy social media it’s full of lovely people who are supportive and I like sharing my ups and downs, I try and be real as possible, but unfortunately there is a dark side of social media and something needs doing about it.

‘Anyway rant over!! The lion is 4 weeks today! Cute af. Love you son @leooliverq’.

Jake previously told MailOnline he’s lost hope in society following nasty comments – including death threats – baby Leo received when he was just a few hours old.

He said: ‘I understand people might say I’m annoying and I’ve got big teeth or whatever – and I couldn’t really give a s*** but when its targeted towards my baby or my Mrs., who isn’t really in the public eye, or a newborn baby that can’t defend himself, it makes you question humanity.

‘If you don’t like someone, you don’t have to tell them, it’s fine, just move on and don’t comment.

‘It has been tough with the comments but its water off a duck’s back now. I’ve had enough trolls the past 10 years that you get used to it but when it’s about your baby it is a different matter.

‘I feel sorry for them to be honest, if you’ve got enough time to make a profile or comment hate towards someone you don’t know it is a reflection on yourself.’
