Fran Drescher, 63, brings back THAT rainbow Moschino vest that she wore on The Nanny 28 YEARS ago

She became a beloved national figure on The Nanny.

And this week on her Instagram page Fran Drescher brought back one of the eye-catching looks she wore on the iconic sitcom.

The 63-year-old slipped into a rainbow Moschino vest she wore all the way back on the first season of the show in 1993.

Remember when: This week on her Instagram page Fran Drescher brought back one of the eye-catching looks she wore on her iconic sitcom The Nanny

Fran co-created the sitcom with her then-husband Peter Marc Jacobson whom she divorced in 1999 after which he revealed to her that he is gay.

They have remained friends ever since and even created a short-lived sitcom called Happily Divorced based on their own split.

She originally wore the Moschino vest on an episode of the show called The Nuchslep which was the fourth episode of season one.

The Nanny follows Fran as a working class girl from Flushing, Queens who is hired to look after the children of a dashing and fabulously wealthy Broadway producer.

She finds herself in an emotionally repressed household but develops a strong and loving bond with the children – and catches the eye of their widowed father.

In the episode where she wears the Moschino vest Fran tags along as a chaperone when the eldest child Maggie goes on a date – becoming a third wheel, a ‘nuchslep.’

When Fran rewore the vest for Instagram she captioned one of the pictures: ‘Did a shoot 4 @hbomax & @cancerschmancer 4 #thenanny & the Fran Jam Music Festival 6/20 at 6pm PT & 9pm ET so get ready to see a Gr8 show on Father’s Day eve.’

HBO Max is where fans can currently view old episodes of The Nanny which dropped on the streaming platform this April Fool’s Day.

Cancer Schmancer is the title of Fran’s memoir about her own case of uterine cancer and then became the name of her nonprofit on the subject.

The Fran Jam Music Festival is a virtual concert in aid of Cancer Schmancer that will feature such names as Cyndi Lauper, Katharine McPhee and David Foster.

There has been chatter for years about a potential revival for the sitcom – and at one point Fran even wanted Cardi B involved – but none has materialized yet.

However just last month The Nanny’s leading man Charles Shaughnessy told Today Extra that Fran had come up with a ‘genius’ idea for a revival.

Last year it emerged a musical was in the works with a score to be written by Rachel Bloom and Adam Schlesinger who worked together on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Adam died of coronavirus complications last year at the age of just 52 but the show is going on and Fran recently said it is ‘almost ready to launch’ on Broadway.

She told The View during an interview just this week that she will not reprise her role as ‘I really can’t sing and this is going to be a very heavy singing part so we’re gonna have to find basically the next Barbra Streisand I think.’

Fran’s fashion choices on The Nanny have delighted fans ever since the show was on the air with multiple Instagram accounts dedicated to her wardrobe.

Brenda Cooper who was the costume designer on the show told Hello Giggles: ‘I didn’t get any direction, but I knew exactly what to do, and Fran just let me do it.’

She dished: ‘I intentionally wanted to make a statement of style, wit, and humor, all combined. So I just started shopping for the show. It was intuitive, and it’s the way I work with clients today, just knowing…the way it should be.’

Brenda explained: ‘I wanted color, I wanted it to be sexy. And there was lots of color available in 1993. We would always shop in Beverly Hills. Going to Neiman Marcus was just like style heaven – all of the prints, the color, and Moschino, Cheap and Chic, and Dolce and Gabbana. They were all in there.’
