Former Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo visits his nonna as he battles brain cancer for the second time

Former Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo has given fans an update on his brain cancer battle, as he continues to fight the disease for a second time.

On Wednesday, the 33-year-old shared a picture as he enjoyed a two week break from treatment.

‘Got a two week break from treatment, Had to go and see Nonna… It’s been far too long ❤️ Talk about a food coma,’ he wrote.

In the photograph Johnny appeared to be in good spirits as he was seen holding up bottle of orange juice in one hand and glass in the other.

The soap star was surrounded by an array of food which included pasta dishes, cheese, bread and olive oil spread.

He was dressed in a plain maroon coloured T-shirt and clear black-framed glasses.

Johnny’s post follows the pop star sharing a picture receiving treatment in a hospital last week.

In the image, he is seen smiling as he shared a thumbs up to the camera while hooked up to an IV.

‘Been busy fighting the good fight,’ he wrote. ‘Another round down.. Bring on the next!’

Johnny – whose girlfriend Tahnee Sims has been by his side throughout his battle – revealed the heartbreaking news he was once again fighting brain cancer on November 24.

 ‘After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know I now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned,’ he wrote on Instagram. 

Johnny was first diagnosed with the disease in 2017 after he went to hospital with painful migraines.

In August of the same year, he had a 7cm brain tumour surgically removed, before undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. 

Johnny rose to fame on talent show The X Factor in 2011, where he placed third. 

He later portrayed Chris Harrington on Home and Away from 2013 to 2016.
