SAS Australia viewers were left anxious while watching Sam Burgess attempt to squeeze his hulking frame through a wormhole during Tuesday’s episode.

Many concerned fans flocked to Twitter to question if the 32-year-old former NRL star would fit, despite assurances from the show’s DS (directing staff) that he would.

‘What if Sam really is too big for the hole?’ asked one worried viewer.

‘Watching Sam Burgess is like feeling constipated on the toilet but you know you’re close,’ tweeted one viewer.

Another wrote: ‘Sam is just going to smash this wormhole, Hulk-style’.

Easily this year’s biggest recruit, staffer Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham advised Sam to ‘make yourself long and lizard-y and move’ through the claustrophobic tunnel.

But shortly after entering the tunnel, Sam began to panic as he questioned whether his broad frame would fit through the tiny wormhole.

Despite assurances from Billy, 55, that he would fit, Sam remained unconvinced, citing his ‘severely damaged left shoulder’ from a career-ending rugby injury.

‘Staff, I promise, I can’t get my shoulders through,’ he called out through the tunnel.
