‘Firstly, I think anyone getting back to fitness or starting a new fitness regime should always find their “why”,’ he explained.

‘This will be your motivation and give you the drive needed to see your goals through. Diet and exercise go hand in hand but ease yourself into it.

‘Going too hard too fast can result in burnout, injury, or just giving up. Start adjusting your lifestyle slowly for a long-term commitment.’

When asked if diet or exercise is more important in getting fit, Jono explained that both are as important as each other.

‘Exercise is not only great for you physically but also mentally. Regular exercise not only helps with weight management but also, improves your sleep, improves brain function, and improves your overall health,’ he explained.

‘Aligning your diet with these benefits by eating healthy and what your body needs, is important to experience these benefits further.’

The Sydney-based trailer also recommended intermittent fasting for better overall health.

‘It gives your body a chance to focus on more important things rather than digesting food. If done right, it can help with weight/fat loss and reduce the risk of some diseases. So I definitely recommend it,’ he said.

Jono is currently an ambassador for Melrose Health, and has now incorporated some of the brand’s products into his daily diet.

‘The first thing is a big glass of water with an apple cider vinegar shot,’ he said when asked how he starts his day.

‘I then have a coffee, no milk, and Melrose Health Kickstart MCT oil,’ he continued.

‘For my meals, typically I have meal prep from Everfit meals. They are just super delicious and include all the macros I need for my diet whilst being easy to eat when I’m busy.

‘I’d tend to eat 3 of them from 12 pm-5 pm and dinner at home would usually be a balanced plate of protein, carbs, and vegetables.’
