Andrew Garfield was glued to his phone when he was pictured stepping out in LA on Wednesday.

The actor, 37, looked casual in a grey T-Shirt and black cargo pants as he ran errands while wearing a mask amid the Covid pandemic.

The outing came the same day as the trailer for his new film, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, was released, in which he plays Christian televangelists Jim Bakker.

The Spider-Man actor has let his hair grow longer and he had it pushed back off his face and he was sporting a beard underneath his face mask.

This look is very different to what he looks like as Jim Bakker in the new movie in which he looks unrecognisable.

He stars in the role alongside It star Jessica Chastain, 44, who plays Bakker’s wife, Tammy Faye.

The film is about the infamous Christian televangelists Jim Bakker and Tammy Faye who rose to fame in the US in the 1970s.

The pair had a popular programme called ‘The Tammy and Jim Show’ (or PTL Club) which ran from 1974-1989.

Bakker and Faye became multi-millionaires, however, it was found that funding for the programming came from viewers and their donations disguised as ‘monthly pledges’ in the name of religion.

In 1987 the program came to a screeching halt and ultimate cancellation after Jim was accused of both sexual and financial misconduct.

That same year Tammy was treated for a prescription drug addiction.

The Charlotte Observer released an expose alleging that Bakker had sexually assaulted a young church secretary by the name of Jessica Hahn.

He was later alleged to have a few same-sex relationships and amid the scandal another televangelist Jerry Falwell was tapped to run the ministry.

Bakker was accused of sexually assaulting a young church secretary, Jessica Hahn,  in an expose released in the Charlotte Observer, and she was apparently bribed to keep quiet.

Amid the scandal, he was also alleged to have same sex relationships.

The show was abruptly cancelled after Jim was accused of both sexual and financial misconduct, and was later indicted in 1988 on eight counts of mail fraud, 15 counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy.

The film is set to be in cinemas on 17th September.
